DMARC Policies
There are three different policies you can set in DMARC.
- None: No specific action is suggested for mail that fails the DMARC checks. This is a dry-run setting used for getting started.
- Quarantine: Emails failing the DMARC checks will no longer be delivered as usual, but moved to a separate folder (e.g. spam folder, quarantine)
- Reject: Emails that fail the DMARC checks will be rejected and not delivered to the recipient.
All of these will of course yield the same amount of reports for you to monitor with DMARCaroni. The difference of course lies in the actions the recipients take: if the policy is set to none, they will continue as before. If the policy is set to Reject, spam and phishing are stopped - but some of your own email might be affected too.
